Trump’s Warning to Iran
Ceasefire talks have reached a significant deadline as the U.S. and Iran agreement concludes. President Donald Trump has prompted Iran to yield, urging the nation to ‘put up the white flag.’
Chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst reports from Tel Aviv on the rising geopolitical tension in the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Expands Missile Production
The Department of War revealed that the U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon, a division of RTX, a contract worth $22.9 billion. This move aims to speed up the production of Tomahawk missiles, essential for augmenting the country’s munitions capacity and restocking critical long-range strike weapons.
What we’ve used is peanuts. We have a lot of mid-level weapons.
President Trump made these remarks during an exclusive phone interview with Fox News’ Trey Yingst, addressing concerns about U.S. weapons stockpiles amidst the conflict with Iran.
Boosting Defense Capabilities
A recent handout from the U.S. Navy shows the USS Thomas Hudner launching a Tomahawk missile during Operation Epic Fury on March 1, 2026. This substantial contract with RTX is expected to provide the company with stability, enabling workforce expansion, increased production, and strengthened supply chains. The goal is to accelerate the delivery of these long-range missiles to U.S. forces.
The Department called upon industry to expand munitions production, and RTX has answered that call.
Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, Michael Duffey, highlighted this in a statement. He emphasized that the contract enhances their capacity to equip the Joint Force, ensuring that U.S. warfighters maintain a strategic advantage in combat situations.
Focus on Industrial Base Expansion
The Pentagon is investing significant effort into expanding the U.S. defense industrial base and reducing the production time for key weapons. This focus is critical as increasing global tensions highlight the importance of robust American weapon stockpiles.
Guaranteeing our naval and joint forces have the lethal firepower they need to deter aggression and protect the homeland is paramount.
This was reiterated by acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao. The $22.9 billion investment is set to hasten the delivery of the Tomahawk missiles to the warfighters.
Efforts are also underway to expand munitions industrial base capacity, ensuring that the forces are well-equipped for current operations and that they perform effectively in missions.
Strategic Importance of Tomahawk Missiles
The Tomahawk missile is a crucial long-range strike weapon for the U.S. military. It can be deployed from Navy ships and submarines and reach targets hundreds of miles away. The Navy’s Portfolio Acquisition Executive Munitions is responsible for overseeing the procurement and delivery of naval munitions and strike capabilities and is working with the industrial base to enhance production capabilities.
