Millennial Approval Ratings Decline
President Donald Trump’s approval rating among millennials has dropped according to the latest Economist/YouGov poll. Only 26% of individuals aged 30 to 44 approve of his performance. This figure marks a 3% decrease from the previous week and continues a five-week trend of steady or declining support.
The poll, conducted from August 14 to 17, showcases a broader pattern of decreasing approval among younger Americans. Trump’s overall approval rating sits at 35%, with 61% disapproving of his job performance. The survey polled 1,611 adults in the United States and has a margin of error of 3.4%.
White House Spokeswoman Olivia Wales commented on the poll, highlighting President Trump’s achievements such as middle-class tax cuts, lower prescription drug costs, and increased 401(k) values.
A White House official also mentioned significant policy achievements like a 9% drop in violent crime, zero migrant releases at the border for 15 months, and a 3.1% decrease in prescription drug prices in July.
The Importance of Millennial Votes
Millennials, born between 1981 and 1996, represent the largest age demographic, overtaking baby boomers. Campaigns for both Trump and former Vice President Kamala Harris focused on engaging millennials through digital media during the 2024 campaign cycle.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Monday records Trump’s overall approval at 33% and disapproval at 64%. These polls, with margins of error around 3 to 3.4%, highlight a consistent pattern of low support among young voters.
