President Donald Trump made a call to American astronauts on the International Space Station while visiting NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. The call followed Trump’s recognition of the Artemis II crew. He humorously remarked that many Americans would relish a trip to space but personally admitted he would not want to go.
The astronauts expressed excitement in speaking with Trump and shared that they were busy with several spacewalks, with another scheduled for the following week. Trump hailed the crew as “pioneers” in space exploration and offered them an invitation to the White House upon their return.
“We’re going to see you when you get back,” Trump stated.
Before the call, Trump presented the crew with the Congressional Space Medal of Honor and signed an order to establish the U.S. Space Force Academy. This new institution aims to reach the esteemed level of other U.S. military academies like West Point and Annapolis.
