The White House has requested Kimberly Guilfoyle to step down from her role as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece. Guilfoyle, who has been in her position since November 2025, was asked to resign amidst allegations of misconduct.
During her first appearance as the White House Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia confirmed the request for Guilfoyle’s resignation. She remarked, “We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.”
Recently, Guilfoyle, 57, faced scrutiny over reports alleging she solicited funds from Eric Deters, a long-time ally of President Trump. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, Guilfoyle allegedly requested Deters to cover her substantial American Express credit card bill in exchange for access to his administration. A message shared by Deters reportedly read: “Honey please, I need you to get this done for me today.”
Her legal team, comprising David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall, refuted claims of wrongdoing, stating that the money was a legitimate payment for services, including public speaking engagements and appearances conducted prior to her ambassadorship. They issued a two-page statement on October 12, asserting that Deters owed approximately $150,000 for previous speeches and consulting work. “Ambassador Guilfoyle has served, and will continue to serve, with integrity, honor and distinction. We are evaluating all available legal remedies to collect this debt and any other potential causes of action,” they said.
Vice President JD Vance addressed the allegations, emphasizing the need to establish facts and truth before taking action. “These are allegations… let’s actually see what the facts are, let’s see what the truth is. And obviously if there was something bad that happened, then people have to suffer consequences for it,” Vance remarked.
President Trump commented on the situation, suggesting possible termination for Guilfoyle, saying, “we are not happy.”
This story continues to develop, and further updates are expected.
