Twin Babies Comfort Each Other to Sleep, Mom Shares Heartwarming Routine

46 minutes ago 0

A mother from Long Island, New York, has uncovered the comforting bond between her twin daughters as they help each other drift into sleep. MariLuz Roth, a developmental specialist, has shared how her identical twins, Maple and Fiona, engage in soothing activities like chatting, reading, and cuddling before falling asleep face-to-face. This behavior resonates with MariLuz, reflecting the connection they shared in the womb.

In an interview with Newsweek, MariLuz highlighted, “This is how they fall asleep most nights. It almost feels like that’s simply their default setting.” She emphasized that there is no secret to this heartwarming bedtime tradition. “Every family is different, and parents should do what feels right for them. The one exception I truly believe benefits every child is having a consistent, predictable routine,” she explained.

After dinner, the twins bid goodnight to their father, Glenn, before engaging in reading, discussions, and affectionate exchanges. Stories might take more time as the family discusses pictures, answers questions, and creates narratives together. MariLuz noted, “Most nights they spend anywhere from a few minutes to quite a while talking to each other, playing quietly or reading together before naturally drifting off to sleep.”

Since infancy, the twin girls have shared a close bond. Initially, they co-slept with their mother but moved into their bedroom at around ten months old. Their cribs were placed side by side since they seemed most content close together, often sleeping with hands intertwined through crib rails. As the girls developed language and independence, this comfort turned into a more profound connection. MariLuz shared, “There really wasn’t one moment when they suddenly started helping each other fall asleep. It happened naturally.”

MariLuz documented their heartfelt routine in an Instagram reel (@doublethemilestones), which gained viral attention with 1.3 million views. Viewers were touched by the wholesome routine, labeling it as “precious” and “beautiful.” The footage features the twins at just over two years old, a time MariLuz recalls being amazed by their instinct to care for one another. She reflected, “I didn’t want to interrupt it, I wanted to nurture it. As they’ve grown, their emotional awareness has continued to surprise me. They instinctively comfort each other when one is upset, celebrate each other’s accomplishments, and genuinely seem happiest when they’re together.”

Inspired by witnessing the twins’ bond, MariLuz began documenting their lives online. She explained, “I remember thinking that if I could capture these little moments, maybe they would remind people what genuine innocence, empathy, and love look like. In a world where we’re constantly exposed to negativity, I hoped these moments might bring people back to something gentle and hopeful.”
