A number of rabbis have voiced their support for the sanctions, citing their own experiences of violence from extremist settlers in the West Bank. These rabbis believe the sanctions are justified given the aggressive behaviors they have witnessed or endured.

On the other hand, several influential Jews, including the country’s chief rabbi who leads Britain’s Orthodox Jews, have criticized the sanctions. They argue that the move could negatively impact Jewish communities in Britain.

These differing opinions have emerged as Britain’s Jewish community faces increasing scrutiny and violence, making the issue especially poignant ahead of important religious observances. Rabbi Jeremy Gordon is among those who publicly supported the sanctions, sharing his personal experiences with settlers. The collective action taken by Britain, alongside Canada and France, involves banning trade in goods produced in the settlements. The announcement garnered support from twelve countries in total.
