U.S. Military Executes Lethal Strike on Suspected Drug-Trafficking Vessel in Caribbean

1 hour ago 0

The U.S. military reported a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean, suspected of drug trafficking, which resulted in the death of four individuals. This attack aligns with ongoing efforts to target drug-trafficking operations in the region.

According to U.S. Southern Command, the targeted vessel was navigating known drug-trafficking routes. A video released by the military shows an explosion destroying a fast-moving boat, described as a ‘go-fast’ vessel. The U.S. Southern Command directed this kinetic strike as part of Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere’s operations.

The military claims to have obtained intelligence on the vessel’s involvement in drug trafficking, though no evidence was provided to support this claim. These operations have resulted in over 235 fatalities since September 2025.

The identities of those killed have not been disclosed by the Pentagon. Furthermore, the administration has not presented any evidence of drugs being on board the vessel. Critics, including members of both political parties and human rights organizations, argue that these actions may constitute ‘extrajudicial killings,’ raising concerns about due process and potential harm to innocent individuals.

The U.S. is negotiating with allied countries to expand operations against criminal networks to land territories in Latin America. U.S. officials, including Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, confirmed agreements with Colombia and Honduras for joint military actions. However, Guatemala, initially included, has refuted claims of such an agreement. In March, Ecuador began similar cooperative operations with the U.S.
