U.S. Military Reveals Drone Takedowns at Southern Border

The U.S. military has disclosed its operations at the southern border, stating it downed around 100 suspected cartel drones in August. This information was confirmed by a senior War Department official. It is the first time officials have detailed the use of counter-drone technology, like advanced laser systems, at the southern border.

Task Force–Southern Border led these operations using specialized equipment integrated by other military units. Each operation was carefully planned and coordinated with Mexican military and border authorities to prevent conflicts.

“The United States is employing defensive counter-drone technology to protect our personnel and border security operations from cartel-linked drone threats,” stated Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson.

The military’s deployment is part of a broader initiative to quickly implement drone defenses. This involves a mix of technologies combined with trained personnel and updated military protocols. Officials stress that no single solution is relied upon to counter these threats.

The Trump administration continues its military efforts against cartels, including strikes against drug traffickers. Earlier this week, officials highlighted President Trump’s directive to use military force as a defensive strategy. According to one official, the results have been significant, marking a major reduction in casualties caused by cartels.

This effort is a cooperation between the U.S. Northern Command and the Department of Homeland Security to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection with additional forces along the border.
