Maryna, aged 37, shared her story with NBC News just minutes after delivering her first child via cesarean section in a hospital situated in Kharkiv, northeastern Ukraine.

The unusual circumstances of her delivery were marked by the sound of air-raid sirens. These alarms filled the environment with tension as the city remained under threat. Maryna found herself in a unique maternity ward—an underground bunker—where she brought her child into the world.
