US Intensifies Crackdown on Cartels with Multi-State Operations

The United States has intensified efforts against criminal organizations by executing a kinetic operation in Venezuela, targeting a prominent figure of the Tren de Aragua gang. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney emphasizes the ongoing danger posed by drug and human trafficking rings and highlights the importance of protecting citizens. A significant priority is the mission to locate 146,000 children reported as victims of human trafficking.

Federal prosecutors have filed charges against 11 individuals from Venezuela and Colombia. Ten of these defendants are reportedly in the United States illegally. The Justice Department alleges their involvement in trafficking a minor and an adult woman for sex, along with distributing drugs and firearms illegally. The arrests occurred in Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida, though one suspect remains at large.

A federal indictment, returned on June 11, details accusations against four individuals between July and August 2025 for sex trafficking a minor and an adult woman. The Justice Department mentions conflicting information about the minor’s age, citing her as both 17 and 14 years old.

“These defendants — ten of whom are currently illegally present in this country — allegedly engaged in a panoply of illicit trafficking activity, from drugs to firearms to human beings,” stated U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II. “We have no tolerance for anybody who commits such crimes in our communities, and we will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

The suspects allegedly promoted prostitution online in central Ohio and trafficked substances such as ecstasy, along with nine firearms. Some defendants were also charged with illegal firearm possession.

The arrests resulted from a Homeland Security Task Force investigation. FBI Cincinnati Special Agent Jason Cromartie stated, “We will continue to work hard to keep Ohio safe and get narcotics, firearms, and violent criminals off the streets.” Jared Murphey, Acting Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit Special Agent, affirmed the task force’s dedication to protecting communities from criminal organizations that exploit and traffic drugs and firearms.

Among those charged are six defendants residing in Ohio. Venezuelan nationals charged include Jean Pierre Alejandro Guillen Salcedo and Taidin Adreina Ferrer Guillen of Hilliard, Pedro Angel Colls-Flores and Alismar Daniela Contreras-Arevalo of Columbus, and Colombian nationals Briyi Daniela Ordonez-Iter of Hilliard and Julian David Patino Pena of Columbus.

Additional defendants are located in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida, with one defendant’s residence listed in Mexico. This operation is part of a Homeland Security initiative under Executive Order 14159, signed by President Donald Trump, to combat transnational crime and protect U.S. communities.

An indictment includes allegations that require legal verification. All accused are considered innocent until confirmed guilty in court.
