White Sox Fall Short Against Guardians in ALDS Game 4

1 hour ago 0

The Chicago White Sox faced off against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night, marking the only game on MLB’s postseason schedule. This matchup provided the White Sox with a chance to advance to the American League Championship Series (ALCS) for the first time since their last appearance in 2005. However, Chicago fell short, losing 9-5.

As the Guardians secured their second consecutive victory in the series, Thursday’s win forced a decisive Game 5. This upcoming game is scheduled for Saturday.

During Game 4, Chicago initially took the lead. Sam Antonacci’s sacrifice fly in the third inning extended their advantage to 2-0. However, the tide turned in Cleveland’s favor in the fifth inning. The Guardians quickly responded, with Patrick Bailey and José Ramírez hitting home runs that changed the game’s momentum.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the White Sox managed to tie the game at 3-3 after Sam Antonacci was hit by a pitch. Brenton Doyle’s sacrifice fly then put Chicago ahead 4-3. Unfortunately for the White Sox, this was their last moment in the lead.

Despite Miguel Vargas hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, which gave Chicago a glimmer of hope, the team couldn’t maintain the momentum. With subsequent runners on base, they ended their efforts without overcoming the Guardians’ lead.

Game 5 will take place in Cleveland, with an 8 p.m. ET start. Fans await this crucial matchup to see who will progress in the playoffs.
