Will Ospreay Prepares for AEW Title Defense

Will Ospreay quickly discovered his opponent for his first defense of the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) World Championship. The “Aerial Assassin” began AEW “Dynamite” on Wednesday with a passionate promo, calling Kenny Omega “the best wrestler in the world” over the past decade and asserting he still holds that title.

Ospreay expressed disbelief at joining the ranks of previous champions like Chris Jericho, ‘Hangman’ Page, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, and Swerve Strickland. “These guys were once my heroes,” he stated. “I used to watch them on TV, and now I am among them. I’ve worked hard, and my idols have become my rivals.”

Despite a lack of confidence, Ospreay declared, “I am the standard now. I am the Billy goat. I am the best in the world. I am your AEW world champion. If anyone wants to take it from me, they need to walk through the same fire I did.”

Ospreay was later involved in a 10-man tag team match alongside Andrade El Idolo, Callum Newman, Francesco Akira, and Henare against Gabe Kidd, Bishop Kaun, Ricochet, Toa Liona, and Clark Connors. Although Ospreay’s team emerged victorious, a post-match skirmish ensued.

Kidd prepared to attack Ospreay with a chair, but Jon Moxley intervened to stop him. While Kidd and Connors are part of Moxley’s faction, The Death Riders, Moxley’s positive regard for Ospreay is evident. Moxley supported Ospreay during his recovery from a neck injury and handed him the Union Jack before his entrance at All In.

As Moxley handed back Ospreay’s title, the crowd erupted in excitement. The video board revealed the upcoming match between Ospreay and Moxley at All Out on September 26 for the AEW World Championship. Meanwhile, Andrade holds a guaranteed title shot following his victory in the Casino Gauntlet match, although the exact date remains unknown.

For now, Ospreay and Moxley are set to clash at the end of the month. The wrestling world eagerly anticipates this high-stakes championship showdown.
