Ongoing Ballot Processing in Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County election officials are actively processing ballots from the recent primary, with over 700,000 remaining to be counted. As of Wednesday evening, 77,521 ballots were processed, bringing the total to nearly 1.4 million, which is about 23.7% of registered voters.

Currently, an estimated 713,180 ballots are left, categorized as follows:

  • Vote-by-mail ballots: 700,000
  • Conditional voter registration ballots: 11,340
  • Provisional ballots: 1,840

The outstanding vote-by-mail ballots include those postmarked by election day and received by the U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday, among others. Initial results may shift as more ballots are processed.

Key Election Updates and Notable Races

Rep. Jimmy Gomez will face Angela Gonzales-Torres in the 34th District election this November. Democrat Steve Hilton leads the race for California’s governor, followed by Xavier Becerra, with Tom Steyer trailing.

In Los Angeles, Spencer Pratt leads against City Councilmember Nithya Raman for the chance to challenge incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, who has secured a spot on the November ballot.
