The New York Giants have welcomed Odell Beckham Jr. back to their team, marking a significant return for the wide receiver. This time around, Beckham approaches his role with a fresh perspective, knowing that nothing is guaranteed.
Speaking with the media, Beckham expressed eagerness about his current position in the team. He embraced the challenge of having to earn his spot on the roster, sharing, “I like it this way. I feel like it’s going to elevate me, bring me up to have to earn it.”
During his previous tenure with the Giants, Beckham was known for his superstar performances. However, the stakes are different now. Beckham competes for playing time alongside other seasoned players like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios.
Beckham has already had straightforward discussions with the new head coach, John Harbaugh, about his role. Harbaugh was candid in their conversation, stating he had no intention of bringing Beckham on if it meant eventually cutting him. To this, Beckham confidently replied, “I’m going out on my sword either way it goes. If that’s what you have to do when you see that I’m not at my best or not fit, then by all means, I’m good with it.”
Beyond his on-field contributions, Beckham aims to serve as a mentor to Malik Nabers, a promising young player from LSU. He acknowledged his past experiences, both positive and negative, and intends to guide Nabers accordingly.
Whether Beckham secures a spot on the 53-man roster or not, his return to New York is anticipated to offer engaging moments for football fans.
