Jill Biden Addresses Criticism of Her Memoir

3 weeks ago 0

Former First Lady Jill Biden responded to Democratic critics of her memoir who argue that it revisits controversies surrounding the 2024 election. She addressed these criticisms during a book event for her memoir, “View from the East Wing,” held in New York City on Wednesday.

Biden was asked about comments by former White House spokesman Andrew Bates. Bates questioned the timing of reopening “painful conversation[s] for the party,” as reported by the New York Post. Jill Biden replied, “I want to say to Andrew: Call me up, and say it to my face, buddy,” emphasizing that only one chapter of her book deals with politics.

She elaborated on her views regarding the 2024 election, including her observations about her husband, former President Joe Biden’s, performance and decision to enter the race. Reflecting on Joe Biden’s debate performance, she noted that she was unaware of his preparation, as she was busy campaigning during that time.

“I never wanted to see that moment again in my life,” Jill Biden said, commenting on requests to rewatch the debate clip. She shared her concerns about Joe Biden’s visible aging, saying, “My God, we all saw him aging.”

These remarks followed an appearance on “The View,” where she stated her belief that Joe Biden would not have been fit to serve another term. When asked by co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin about this possibility, she replied, “Well, not from what I know now.” She referred to a cancer diagnosis as a shocking event that altered their life plans.

This discussion reflects ongoing debates about President Joe Biden’s capabilities and decisions during his presidency.
