Jake Paul, known for transitioning from YouTube to boxing, recently faced former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Their match took place last December, and Paul, seen as a major underdog, reached the sixth round. Unfortunately, during the fight, he suffered a broken jaw, potentially threatening his boxing career.
Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, shared insights about Paul’s current situation. Following a specialist’s evaluation, the plan is for Paul to resume sparring sessions later this year. Bidarian stated, “He saw his specialists last Wednesday. They gave him a great progress report. The plan is for him to be back sparring two months from now.” For Paul, sparring will be critical in assessing his readiness to return to the boxing ring by 2026.
Paul expressed concerns about his future in boxing to Ariel Helwani, mentioning that not returning to the sport is a possibility. He emphasized the importance of proper healing of his jaw and necessary dental procedures, including a tooth implant, which may affect his timeline.
Despite the challenges, Bidarian mentioned that Paul holds no regrets for choosing to fight Joshua. Paul managed to create a significant moment by challenging and holding his ground against a renowned heavyweight. His performance extended longer than 18 of Joshua’s previous opponents while successfully landing hits.
Jake Paul’s current record stands at 12 wins and 2 losses, including a notable victory over Mike Tyson in November 2024. Discussions of a return remain dependent on his physical recovery, pivotal for the next stages of his career.
