Milan was abuzz as Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo shared the front row at Ralph Lauren’s fashion show during Milan Fashion Week. They engaged in conversations about menswear that varied from classic pinstripes to festival-style layers. Ralph Lauren’s show, held in its elegant Milan palazzo for the past two seasons, attracted stars like Henry Golding, Tom Hiddleston, and Scott Eastwood.
Outside the venue, fans endured a heatwave, eager to see the arriving celebrities. They were thrilled when Thai actor Nichakoon Khajornborirak, known as Meen, and Korean actor Kim Woo-bin greeted them with waves as cameras flashed. Domingo had a minor slip while retrieving a hand fan from his car but remarked, “I wasn’t going to leave that fan in the car. It was the most important thing.”
The fashion showcase transitioned smoothly from Ralph Lauren’s Purple line with daytime suits to tuxedo shirts layered under patchwork denim coats. These looks, accented with skewed berets, aviator glasses, and pocket watch chains, evoked a 1920s-inspired theme. “It was a mix of old and new,” Domingo observed while listening to Nat King Cole’s music in the background.
The casual Polo collection presented colorful madras plaids, layered knitwear, rugby shirts, and light puffers, perfect for a mountain festival or a beach party. Some styles had “Preppy Handbook” influences with bold pink and green combinations. Notably, the iconic Polo Bear motif appeared in runway-matching outfits. Domingo commented on Ralph Lauren’s ability to blend different styles, saying, “It was a great mix. Going from Brooklyn and arriving in East Hampton, you feel perfectly in place.”
Ralph Lauren’s collection skillfully interwove the formal with the casual. The diverse runway featured models of various ages and races, enhancing its inclusivity. Accessories ranged from silk scarves in suits to colorful bandanas in casual attire. Ties found new life as belts and bag components, aligning with the up-cycling trend. Footwear options included leather fisherman’s sandals, velvet slippers, espadrilles, and rain-resistant duck boots. Bag selections featured Ralph Lauren-branded canvas totes and luxury snakeskin options. Eastwood expressed interest in a snakeskin bag, describing Ralph Lauren as “timeless.” Golding acknowledged Ralph Lauren’s long-term support in his career, favoring the Purple label for its refinement.
