Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, faces challenges in the Democratic primary for the 12th Congressional District. Despite his prominent family background, Schlossberg has dropped to third place in recent polls.
During a rainy day campaign event on the Upper East Side, Schlossberg focused on connecting with supporters. His campaign ads featured notable figures such as Nancy Pelosi, the former House speaker, and his mother, Caroline Kennedy. The attendees at his events varied from high school students to retirees, underscoring his appeal across generations.
The culminating campaign event at Terminal 5, a venue with past performances from popular bands, did not draw a large crowd. References to his grandfather were prevalent, mixed with music aimed at younger voters.
Schlossberg is competing to replace Representative Jerrold Nadler in the affluent 12th Congressional District. The race includes Nadler’s preferred successor Micah Lasher, AI-supported candidate Alex Bores, anti-Trump figure George Conway, and global vaccine expert Nina Schwalbe.
After revelations regarding his campaign’s inconsistencies and a drop in the polls, Schlossberg aims to reshape the narrative of his candidacy. He emphasized the battle between grassroots support and dark money. Despite this stance, he invested $1 million of personal funds to counteract the financial influence of billionaire donors backing his opponents.
