Washington — As Independence Day approaches, Washington, D.C. is set to host an unprecedented fireworks display on Saturday evening. An impressive 850,000 fireworks are scheduled to light up the night sky in a 40-minute presentation that aims to make history as the largest of its kind.
Pyrotecnico, the company responsible for this massive event, will use its extensive experience acquired over five generations. Known for its work at major events like Super Bowls and large music concerts, Pyrotecnico is eager to contribute to America’s 250th birthday celebration. Rocco Vitale, president of Pyrotecnico, expressed his excitement, stating, “It is the biggest show that we’ve done,” recalling his fond memories of Fourth of July fireworks.
Preparations for the show began in January, with computerized simulations ensuring precise execution. The display will feature eight barges on the Potomac River, each equipped with communication devices and GPS systems for synchronization.
The “Salute to America 250 Celebration & Fireworks,” organized by Freedom 250, will include remarks by President Trump at 9:45 p.m. Eastern Time. The fireworks spectacle will begin at 10:45 p.m., drawing enormous crowds to the National Mall.
CBS invites viewers to enjoy “The Great American Block Party 250,” a primetime special featuring live musical acts and celebrations across the nation. Hosted by CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil and Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner, the program will air on July 4 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and be available for streaming on Paramount+ and CBS News 24/7.
