RNC Expresses Concern Over Socialist Influence on Democratic Party

Exclusive Report: The Republican National Committee’s national spokesperson, Natalie Baldassarre, has voiced worries about the influence of socialist views within the Democratic Party. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Baldassarre cautioned that the Democrats are being misled by socialist ideologies.

Baldassarre stated, “The Democrat Party is being driven off a cliff by socialists who are driving blindfolded while arguing about the view.” She emphasized that unless Democrats take action, they will need to address the extreme beliefs of socialists, which she claims could lead to national economic issues and infringe on individual freedoms.

Megan Romer, Democratic Socialists of America’s (DSA) co-chair, discussed the organization’s tax proposals during her appearance on “The New Yorker Radio Hour.” Romer expressed concern primarily about billionaires, suggesting that their wealth often comes from exploiting the working class. Although she endorsed high taxes on the wealthy, Romer did not specify a precise tax rate when challenged on the policy by New Yorker editor David Remnick.

Romer explained that the DSA intends to establish tax policies based on financial needs and priorities. This approach is also reflected in the DSA’s official 2026 program, which aims to implement substantial wealth taxes to fund public goods but does not specify rates or targets.

The RNC has raised alarms about the potential negative impact of socialist policies on Democratic candidates, particularly following several victories by DSA-backed candidates in congressional primaries. Such victories include Melat Kiros defeating Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado and Darializa Avila Chevalier ousting Rep. Adriano Espaillat.

Despite the discussions of socialism, Romer noted that one of the prominent figures, Abdul El-Sayed, identifies as a capitalist and not as part of the DSA.

The centrist Democratic group Third Way announced a $15 million plan to counteract the DSA’s influence through research and media campaigns. Matt Bennett, Third Way’s co-founder, warned about the DSA’s perceived threat to Democrats and stressed the importance of defining the party against radical views.

Romer, however, dismissed the Third Way initiative, defending the movement’s vision and expressing confidence in its growing influence.
