Campaign Speech by Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, Senate Candidate

1 hour ago 0

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign began with a town hall tour in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Many areas visited were strongholds for Trump, won by thirty points in previous elections. Contrary to critics’ expectations of a ‘cold welcome,’ the tour was well-received.

In Escanaba, a mother attended her first political rally, expressing excitement because political events rarely happen in her town. Similar sentiments were echoed in Iron Mountain, Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Petoskey, Midland, and Caro where citizens felt ignored by politicians.

‘Both parties are responsible for neglecting the UP and Northern Michigan,’ Dr. El-Sayed said, citing that while Republicans assumed these voters’ support, Democrats often ignored the region.

Dr. El-Sayed is campaigning to ensure every Michigander feels valued. Having held over 700 events in more than 120 cities, he connected with voters adversely affected by policies from the Rogers-Trump agenda.

Support is growing in unexpected areas like Escanaba, Port Huron, and Cadillac. People, including former Trump supporters, are attending town halls seeking change. They are enduring a system that disparages ordinary citizens while benefiting the affluent.

‘The Rogers-Trump agenda burdens Michigan households with increased costs,’ he stated. ‘Experts estimate an additional $5,600 in tariffs alone, plus $20 more per tank of gas due to Trump’s Iran policies.’

Dr. El-Sayed’s opponent, Mike Rogers, supports these economic hardships, regarding the trade wars as ‘wins’. Rogers has amassed wealth, reportedly $14.6 million, through counsel to corporations he regulated during his congressional tenure.

Rogers’ allegiances lie with powerful interests. His congressional track record includes accepting over $1 million from Big Pharma, subsequently voting against affordable healthcare options. He received millions from Big Oil and Wall Street, then voted for policies benefiting these sectors, increasing expenses for ordinary citizens.

‘Rogers prospers while working Michiganders face growing financial strain,’ El-Sayed said.

Dr. El-Sayed promotes three key principles: removing influence of money in politics, increasing economic benefits for citizens, and advocating for Medicare for All.

This upcoming election, Dr. El-Sayed urges voters to elect leaders prioritizing Michigan over wealthy entities. He advocates sending Rogers to his Florida home, offering citizens genuine representation.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed serves as the Democratic candidate for Senate in Michigan.
