Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty from Ohio submitted an emergency motion last week. This move followed the center’s Trump-allied board of trustees’ decision to add the president’s name to the building for a second time.
The Kennedy Center board initially attempted to place President Donald Trump’s name on the building earlier this year, resulting in new signage in February. However, the letters were removed in June.
On Thursday night, the congresswoman asked a federal judge to prevent the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees from reinstating the president’s name on the front of the building.
