Prospect Mason Adams to Make MLB Debut with Rockies

Pitcher Mason Adams, recently acquired by the Colorado Rockies from the Chicago White Sox, has quickly shown his potential in the minor leagues. After his trade on August 3, he demonstrated his skill, earning a promotion to the Major League.

Adams faced a challenging environment in the Pacific Coast League, known for its hitter-friendly venues, but his performance was impressive. In three starts for Triple-A Albuquerque, he allowed just three runs and nine hits over 13 innings. Particularly notable were his two home starts where he gave up only one run in nine innings.

Thomas Harding of MLB.com reported that Adams will make his major league debut against the Washington Nationals. This marks a pivotal moment in Adams’s career, especially after overcoming Tommy John surgery, which caused him to miss the 2025 season.

In the trade for Adams, the Rockies also acquired infielder Carlos Vielma, trading outfielder Brenton Doyle to the White Sox. Before the trade, Adams had a record of 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 48 strikeouts over 49 innings in 14 minor league games. His stint with Triple-A Charlotte included 36 innings with a 4.25 ERA and 36 strikeouts in nine games.

The Rockies are also set to debut pitcher Blake Adams next week. Blake Adams, 25, will fill in for Kyle Freeland, who is on the injured list. Blake, transitioning from Albuquerque, posted a 2-5 record with an 8.10 ERA in his 17 minor league appearances this season.

Colorado is optimistic about Mason Adams and Carlos Vielma. Vielma has an impressive .452/.553/.548 slash line in the Dominican Summer League. The Rockies hope these additions will significantly bolster their lineup.
