An officer from Upper Pottsgrove Township Police fatally shot a 22-year-old named Glenwood Earl Pysher IV during a response to a supposed break-in at a home on Snyder Road.

Incident Details

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred around 12:29 a.m. on Sunday, August 23. The police responded to a 911 call reporting a potential break-in. Upon their arrival, they found Glenwood behind the house.

An encounter ensued, leading to the tragic shooting of Pysher. The police officer involved acted after coming into contact with him on the premises.

Family’s Perspective

Erin Pysher, Glenwood’s mother, states that her son mistakenly entered a wrong backyard, believing it belonged to a friend. She recounted that Glenwood was on the phone with his friends for merely two minutes before being shot.

“It’s a small little error that cost him his life. It should’ve never happened,” Erin said. “The cops should have never resorted to such force. He was unarmed. He wasn’t trying to do anything dangerous or malicious or hurt anybody. It escalated way too fast.”

Glenwood’s Background

Glenwood, a former baseball player at Northampton County Community College, had transferred to St. Elizabeth College in New Jersey. He planned to continue both his baseball career and his studies to become a history teacher.

Erin Pysher reflected on his recent birthday, stating, “He just turned 22 on the 10th. He had a birthday, was supposed to start school and go to college. He was supposed to play baseball and live his life, and it was cut short.”
