Olivia Rodrigo’s Festival Raises $20 Million for Women-Focused Nonprofits

Olivia Rodrigo surprised attendees at the Daisy Chain Fields festival with a special guest who played a big role in boosting fundraising efforts. Initially, the festival raised $10 million for various nonprofits focused on women. Before Rodrigo began her headlining performance in Irvine, California, she announced that Melinda French Gates would match each donation dollar for dollar, raising the total to $20 million.

Rodrigo expressed her gratitude to the festival’s performers, who donated their time to support the cause. She emphasized the importance of empowering women to decide their own futures and live without violence and discrimination, highlighting Melinda French Gates as a key figure in this mission.

Melinda French Gates joined Rodrigo on stage, commending her for the impactful work and noting the collective power of women and girls to change the world. Gates emphasized the ongoing impact of these efforts long after the festival lights dim.

Leading up to the festival, Rodrigo revealed that the funds would be distributed among ten organizations committed to women’s causes. These include Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.

The festival featured performances from artists such as Garbage, Chappell Roan, Doechii, and Bikini Kill. Despite a canceled performance by Katseye due to an injury, Devon Again stepped in to fill their slot.

Additional highlights included Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette, and Sarah McLachlan joining Rodrigo on stage for duets. Rodrigo shared that McLachlan’s Lilith Fair inspired the creation of Daisy Chain Fields.
