Identity of Times Square Attack Victim Released: Details Emerge

Authorities have identified the victim of a tragic stabbing incident in Times Square. Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old resident of Chester, New Jersey, was fatally stabbed in the abdomen. The attack occurred near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue, a busy tourist area. Piacenti was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after.

The assailant, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros from Queens, also stabbed a 68-year-old man during the attack. Cisneros was shot dead by police after the spree. She had a history of mental health issues, although she had no criminal record.

“Tonight, our thoughts are, of course, with the victims of this horrific attack and their families. One life cut far too short by a senseless act of violence,” said Tisch.

The male victim had just exited the subway with his wife when the attack occurred. Witnesses reported that Cisneros retrieved the knives from a red Target bag before targeting the couple. The 68-year-old man was stabbed in his side but is currently recovering at Bellevue Hospital. The subsequent attack on Piacenti followed within seconds.

Law enforcement described the stabbings as random and unprovoked, dismissing any links to terrorism. After the stabbings, Cisneros continued along Seventh Avenue, still armed. Police encountered her between 42nd and 43rd streets and ordered her to drop the knives over a four-minute interaction.

When non-lethal methods proved ineffective, Cisneros advanced toward officers, prompting them to open fire. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Police recovered both knives at the scene. Further information on Piacenti is anticipated, as authorities continue to investigate this tragic event.
