Trump to Honor Victims and First Responders of 9/11 at Pentagon Ceremony

President Donald Trump will mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks at the Pentagon, paying homage to the victims and first responders. Anna Kelly, White House principal deputy press secretary, mentioned Trump’s reflections as a New Yorker who witnessed the tragic events unfold. She highlighted Trump’s intention to honor those killed, their families, and the courageous individuals who risked their lives to help others.

“As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has spoken about his own experiences watching the horrific events of September 11, 2001,” Kelly told Fox News Digital.

Trump, alongside First Lady Melania, will attend the ceremony, where Charlie Kirk is set to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Vice President JD Vance will join previous presidents Obama, Bush, and Clinton in New York for a ceremony at the World Trade Center site. Officials from the administration will also gather in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, ensuring representation at each significant location linked to 9/11.

Previously, Trump attended the Pentagon’s 9/11 commemoration, proclaiming Patriot Day, urging flags to be flown at half-staff. The day included a Yankees-Tigers game in the Bronx, which featured tributes to the victims.

Trump’s History at 9/11 Memorials

During his presidency, Trump attended the Pentagon memorial several times and visited the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in alternate years. As a real estate developer in New York City during the attacks, Trump witnessed the tragedy firsthand, recounting the surreal experience on TV.

“I have a window that looks directly at the World Trade Center, and I saw this huge explosion. I was with a group of people and I couldn’t even believe it,” Trump recalled in an interview.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation brought its “Steel Across America” tour to the White House, showcasing a steel beam from the World Trade Center’s South Tower. This beam functions as a traveling memorial, providing pop-up events in 21 states leading to the anniversary. The effort aims to keep the spirit of remembrance alive across the nation.
