Firefighter Confronts Pro-Palestinian Protester Near 9/11 Memorial

A video from Turning Point USA showed a heated exchange between a New York City firefighter and a pro-Palestinian protester. The incident occurred near the 9/11 memorial ceremony at Ground Zero. The firefighter labeled the protester, who was dressed as Elmo with a Palestinian flag, as ‘anti-American.’ He expressed a strong sentiment towards the protester’s presence, implying he should ‘go back to Palestine’ and questioned their allegiance.

The verbal confrontation escalated as the firefighter suggested the protester take former President Barack Obama, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez along with them. His language was explicit and critical. After his departure, a voice in the video accused Jews of committing genocide, adding more tension to the scene.

Notably, Turning Point USA commented on the spillover of frustration from attendees of the solemn event. Towards the same period, protesters could be seen with Hamas and Hezbollah flags elsewhere in the city, although it’s unclear if the groups were connected.

Fox News Digital sought comments from the Fire Department of New York and Turning Point USA. The FDNY clarified that the individual in the uniform was not affiliated with them but might belong to another fire department.

The 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks was marked by a ceremony that gathered many dignitaries. All living former U.S. presidents attended the event at Ground Zero, accompanied by Vice President JD Vance. Zohran Mamdani, Kathy Hochul, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were among those present. Across the city, President Donald Trump delivered a speech at the Pentagon memorial service.
