Riot Fest Ends Early Due to Storm Warnings

Riot Fest organizers decided to end festivities earlier than planned on Saturday due to predicted storms approaching the Chicago area. The announcement came around 3:30 p.m., stating: “In cooperation with our partners from the City of Chicago and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our fans, bands, and staff, Riot Fest will be ending early tonight due to inclement weather. For updated schedules and any further changes, please check Riot Fest socials and riotfest.org. Please be safe and watch for more updates.”

As of now, the schedule for Sunday remains unchanged. However, the news about the early closure was slow to reach attendees already at the festival, partly because of limited cell service in the park.

The revised schedule condensed some performances to just 20 minutes and omitted the eagerly awaited set from Afroman. The festival was scheduled to conclude around 7 p.m., with Tool set to headline at 6 p.m. Bob Mould from Sugar humorously commented at the end of his set, “Who knows who’s up next!”
