U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, revealed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has authorized the expulsion of a Cuban diplomat. This action is a response to allegations of the diplomat shoving and attempting to assault an American diplomat.
During an appearance on Fox News’ Hannity, Waltz confirmed the diplomat’s imminent departure. “He is going to be on a plane to Havana within the next 24 hours,” he stated.
The decision follows a tense exchange at the United Nations involving U.S. and Cuban representatives. Waltz accused Cuban officials of trying to disrupt his speech.
The Castro regime has profited at the expense of the Cuban people with luxury cars, expensive watches, and a private island resort,Waltz noted in a post on X.As I shared this with the world, regime thugs rushed the stage to interrupt my speech. They can intimidate their own people in Cuba but think again.
In a video from the incident, Waltz is heard instructing, “Back away from this podium, he’s not going to intimidate me.” His comments come during a period of increased strain between Washington and Havana. The U.S. ambassador claims Cuban officials are attempting to stifle his censure of the Cuban government.
Newsweek has reached out to Mike Waltz by email, as the inquiry was made outside typical working hours.
