The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed Newsweek that the aircraft had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was en route to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. The crash took place in a residential area near Cresthaven around 12:50 p.m. local time. The FAA noted that the details provided were preliminary.

The Crash Site and Impact

The accident occurred near Military Trail, positioned between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North. Video footage circulated on social media showed the jet descending sharply before erupting into a fireball close to a roadway and homes. Flames and smoke followed the crash, contributing to visible destruction and scattered debris in the area.

The jet, cruising at 35,000 feet, encountered turbulence and icing conditions. Pilots attempted to climb 2,000 feet higher before the aircraft experienced a sudden descent, dropping up to 30,000 feet per minute, which exceeded its design limits. The pilot declared an emergency as the plane’s situation became dire.

Reports indicated that the aircraft was facing significant turbulence, causing it to jolt by as much as 700 feet. Communication recorded by LiveATC.net revealed the pilot’s distress as the plane continued its rapid descent.
