Kansas Republican Senator Roger Marshall has urged his supporters to make sure they vote in the upcoming election. During his appearance on ‘The Sunday Briefing,’ Marshall talked about his Senate race against Democrat Adam Hamilton. He highlighted concerns from rural voters about inflation and the economy, and defended Republican policies that aim to support agricultural communities.
In a related development, a federal grand jury in Wichita has indicted Kelly R. Cram, a 59-year-old postal worker, on charges of stealing thousands of pieces of mail. This allegedly includes hundreds of political flyers all linked to Republican candidates, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas. Cram, a native of Baxter Springs, faces a charge of unlawful secretion, destruction, and delay of mail.
The indictment states that Cram stole 4,404 pieces of mail starting in October. Among the mail items she allegedly took were nearly 400 political mailers related to Republican candidates or Republican-affiliated political action committees. These mailers were reportedly found in her garage, and there were no items related to any other political party’s candidates found at her residence. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General is investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, Kansas voters will soon decide on a wide range of candidates, including in the gubernatorial race. They will choose between Republican Ty Masterson, the president of the state’s Senate, and Democrat Cindy Holscher, also a member of the state Senate. All four of the state’s U.S. House of Representatives seats are up for grabs, along with one of the two state Senate seats.
Sen. Marshall, the incumbent, is facing a challenge from Democrat Adam Hamilton. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas has not yet responded to requests for additional comments regarding the indictment of the postal worker.
