51 minutes ago 0

An 18-year-old named Mark Everett Coates III remains missing after his boat capsized on the Susquehanna River in Maryland. His vessel was discovered overturned on November 5, leading to a search by multiple agencies.

Coates last launched his 10-foot aluminum jon boat from the Water Street Boat Ramp in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He was last seen near the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge on November 4 around 5 p.m. He was wearing a chartreuse long-sleeved T-shirt and blue jeans.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police reported the disappearance and coordinated search efforts. They were joined by the United States Coast Guard and Chesapeake Search Dogs. Teams have used both dive and aviation resources, despite weather challenges that affected aerial searches. The Susquehanna Hose Company confirmed these challenges but stated plans are in place for additional support.

Search operations resumed on the morning of November 6 with improved weather conditions. Officials also conducted air searches during brief weather advantages the previous day. Authorities urged local boaters and residents to avoid the search area, including the Water Street Boat Ramp, to aid in the efforts.

Authorities have requested anyone with information on Mark Everett Coates III’s activities or sightings to contact the Maryland Natural Resources Police at 410-260-8888.
