Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma has placed a substantial $36,000 bet on Spencer Pratt, a former reality TV star, in his bid to become the next mayor of Los Angeles. Kuzma’s bet adds excitement to the upcoming nonpartisan primary election scheduled for June 2. The former Lakers player, who won a championship with the team in 2020, is actively supporting Pratt’s campaign.
When faced with criticism for backing Pratt, Kuzma responded on social media platform X, stating: “LA has been cooked since Covid what am I missing lol.” Kuzma, now 30, spent four seasons with the Lakers before being drafted by the team.
For voters seeking change from the current political environment, Spencer Pratt presents himself as an outsider candidate advocating for governmental reform and stricter public safety measures. Pratt’s campaign, which began in January following the loss of his Pacific Palisades home during the 2025 wildfires, has also garnered support from President Trump and Lakers minority owner Jeanie Buss.
Jeanie Buss made a maximum donation to Pratt’s campaign. Since entering the race, Pratt is determined to replace incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, with frustrations over city leadership and emergency response failures fueling his campaign.
Pratt has gained popularity by addressing voter dissatisfaction with issues like crime, city spending, and the persistent homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. His distinct campaign style and criticism of City Hall have kept him in the spotlight, refusing to fade away as a mere novelty candidate.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faced mockery from Pratt, who referred to her derisively as “Karen Basura” and highlighted what he sees as failed progressive policies contributing to the city’s problems. During the Ronda Rousey-Gina Carano event at the Intuit Dome, Pratt discussed his campaign and reform plans with OutKick, emphasizing his commitment to making LA safer.
Pratt, running on the Republican ticket, continues to challenge the current leadership, capturing attention with his confrontational approach in debates and media appearances. As the election date approaches, his campaign remains focused on shaking up the political status quo and addressing the concerns of disillusioned voters.
