In Texas, a roller coaster at a Galveston amusement park malfunctioned, leaving eight riders suspended for over three hours. The incident occurred at the Iron Shark roller coaster located at Pleasure Pier.
The Galveston Police Department responded to the situation at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Thursday. The ride stopped during its initial climb, stranding passengers near the top of its 100-foot vertical lift hill. Local TV stations broadcast live footage of the incident, showing the riders stuck at a high point.
The Galveston Fire Department was dispatched to assist with the rescue, utilizing a ladder truck and safety harnesses. Each passenger was carefully brought down, with the entire rescue operation lasting about three and a half hours.

The district expressed relief over the safety of all involved and maintained contact with families throughout the ordeal. They commended first responders and park staff for their efforts.
Park officials have not disclosed the specific cause of the malfunction.
