An Angel Dad, Joe Abraham, has joined U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as Executive Director of VOICE. This decision is deeply personal for him, rooted in the loss of his daughter. VOICE, or Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement, provides support to victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens.
Katie Abraham, Joe’s 20-year-old daughter, and her friend Chloe Polzin were tragically killed in January 2025 in a hit-and-run accident. The driver, Julio Cucul-Bol, a Guatemalan national and illegal alien, pleaded guilty to multiple charges and received a 30-year prison sentence. Joe Abraham has since been a vocal advocate for stricter immigration enforcement.
His advocacy efforts inspired Operation Midway Blitz, a federal operation that led to over 4,000 arrests in the Chicago area from September to December 2025. The operation faced significant opposition from Democratic leaders.
Abraham expresses his intention to use his new role to ensure victims and their families receive recognition and support within the immigration system. White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis commended Abraham for his dedication to helping families affected by illegal alien crime.
The VOICE office was reestablished in April 2025 under the Trump administration. It has assisted hundreds of families with support services and received numerous calls from victims seeking help. Commonly reported crimes include assault, rape, sexual assault, and homicide.
The Trump administration has been in conflict with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker over his sanctuary policies. Pritzker’s refusal to cooperate with federal immigration officials has been a point of contention. In a recent incident, the release of an illegal immigrant convicted of child sexual abuse highlighted the ongoing issues between state and federal authorities.
