Former President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance in a recorded video for Barstool Sports personality Jersey Jerry. They presented him with the “Lib of the Year” award for a third consecutive year during the “Pardon My Take” Takie Awards episode.
Jerry, clearly shocked, reacted to the unexpected presence of the Bidens. The video initially showed Hunter Biden congratulating Jerry, then panned to include the former president.
“What the f—? I was not expecting that,” Jerry said.
Hunter opened the message by referencing their shared journey in recovery and congratulated Jerry on his third win.
“Hey, Jerry, from one brother in recovery to another, congratulations on the Lib of the Year award. I know you didn’t have much competition, but I’m still proud of you,” Hunter Biden stated before his father appeared.
Joe Biden then offered his own encouragement to Jerry.
“We were both proud of you. Hey, Jerry, congratulations. Keep the faith, Jerry. Congratulations, dude,” the former president said.
The hosts highlighted the significance of a former president participating in the comedy sports show’s award ceremony, leaving Jerry in disbelief.
“Serious? What are we doing?” Jerry questioned. He even requested the hosts to replay the video multiple times.
Reflecting on the surprise, Jerry humorously thanked the president with a nickname used by Donald Trump.
“All right, Sleepy Joe. Thank you, brother,” he remarked.
Co-host Dan “Big Cat” Katz put the event in a historical context.
“Forty-five men have served in 47 presidencies. You have one of 45 men who served as president of the United States of America giving you a Takey for Lib of the Year. Just let that set in for a second. That’s history,” Katz noted.
Jersey Jerry acknowledged the moment as historic.
“That is history right there. It’s incredible,” he said. “The president knows who I am.”
The surprise drew online attention. Barstool founder Dave Portnoy expressed his astonishment.
“I gasped,” Portnoy declared.
The episode, which lasted nearly three hours, included more than 28 awards such as “Take of the Year” and “Blake of the Year.” These Takie Awards are part of the podcast’s annual parody event.
