A Coast Guard plane carrying Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin had to make an emergency landing after it lost an engine. This incident occurred on Wednesday, involving a C-37A aircraft, the military variant of the Gulfstream V.
The aircraft successfully touched down at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The pilot confirmed that 14 people were on board, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. Secretary Mullin acknowledged the situation on X, emphasizing the skill of the pilots who managed to complete the single engine landing without inducing panic, displaying ‘just straight professionalism.’
CBS highlighted that the Department of Homeland Security previously expressed concerns about this aircraft. Last year, the DHS indicated in a statement that the 22-year-old Coast Guard plane faced significant issues related to avionics and communications obsolescence.
