Recently, Courtney Love shared insights into her health struggles, which she kept private for several years. The 62-year-old singer from the band Hole provided an update on her new album, explaining how it was shaped during a challenging period of frequent hospitalizations. Love expressed that she believed at the time that the album might be her last work.

In a video posted on Instagram, Love recounted her experience upon traveling to England in 2019. ‘My body just exploded,’ she recounted. ‘I was in hospitals a lot. I nearly died, lost all my hair, and weighed only 100 pounds. Doctors told me I was going to die, but I didn’t believe them.’

Despite undergoing multiple hospital visits since 2019 and experiencing a near-death situation, Love did not reveal specific details regarding the illness she faced. However, she emphasized her ultimate recovery, refusing to accept the dire prognosis.

Love connected this resilience to a childhood inclination to question adults. ‘When I was a kid, I had a tendency to challenge what adults said,’ she noted. ‘If someone told me red was blue, I’d see blue as blue. Even when they said I was going to die, I didn’t believe them. Somehow, I got better. I’m healthy now, which is incredible.’

The singer mentioned she did not publicize her illness, preferring to keep her struggle private. Now recovered, Love expressed a desire to perform again, viewing music as essential to her well-being and stating that the new album emerged during her fight to heal.

Her accompanying Instagram caption revealed that during the album creation, she thought it might be her final record. Love thanked those who supported her through what she described as a difficult time marked by trauma.

This new album represents a significant return for Love, as her last album release was with Hole in 2010, titled ‘Nobody’s Daughter.’

As Love prepares to re-enter public life, she requested patience from her fans, highlighting her eagerness to reconnect through her music.
