Recently, top college quarterbacks like Texas’s Arch Manning, Oregon’s Dante Moore, and Notre Dame’s CJ Carr have kicked off their seasons. These players hold potential for memorable performances and future NFL drafts picks. Yet, sportscaster Colin Cowherd has voiced a different opinion. On his podcast, ‘The Colin Cowherd Podcast,’ he praised another quarterback: Miami Hurricanes’ Darian Mensah.

‘I can’t believe there’s a better quarterback than Darian Mensah,’ Cowherd asserted. He compared Mensah to notable players such as CJ Carr and Arch Manning. Cowherd lauded Mensah’s potential as an outstanding college quarterback.

Mensah’s journey is a significant part of why Cowherd admires him. He highlighted how Mensah played high school football in a less celebrated area, continuing a similar path with Tulane and Duke. Now at Miami, Mensah faces new pressures playing alongside superior players. Cowherd remarked, ‘I liked the journey, and man, he can spin it.’

In Miami’s recent game against Stanford, Mensah made an impressive debut with a 45-6 win. He completed 27 of 30 passes for 401 yards and scored five touchdowns. His top receiver, Malachi Toney, contributed with 234 yards and three touchdowns. Mensah showcased his skills by remaining focused and adept under defensive pressure.

Mensah’s transition to starting quarterback follows Carson Beck’s departure to the NFL. A video highlighting Mensah’s polished performance against Stanford circulated online. With just three missed passes and zero interceptions, Mensah demonstrated his capacity to confidently connect with receivers throughout the game.

However, some fans argue that Stanford may not have been the toughest opponent, and that tougher challenges await Mensah. As the season progresses, more rigorous competition could either reveal Mensah’s vulnerabilities or reinforce Cowherd’s high regard for him.

Currently, Mensah leads the Heisman odds in several sportsbooks and prediction platforms. It’s early in the season, and Mensah’s contenders like CJ Carr, Arch Manning, and Dante Moore may face stronger competitors along their paths.
