A Delta Air Lines flight was diverted back to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) shortly after takeoff due to a medical emergency involving one of its pilots. The incident took place on Delta Flight 1208, which was en route to Orlando, Florida. Following standard procedures, the flight returned safely, demonstrating the importance of co-pilot training in handling cockpit emergencies.

The Boeing 757-300 carried 178 passengers and seven crew members. It departed around 11:29 a.m. and requested to return roughly four minutes later, based on data from FlightAware. A crew member radioed air traffic control, saying, “We need to return to the field. Nature of the emergency: We have a potential pilot incapacitation. We would like to return immediately.”

Delta Airlines highlighted its commitment to safety in a statement, emphasizing the swift action to support passengers and the ill pilot. After landing back in Minneapolis, a new flight crew was arranged to ensure the plane could continue to Orlando, where it arrived later that evening.

This incident follows a recent medical emergency on a Frontier Airlines flight, where four attendants suffered headaches and nausea. Emergency medical staff met the flight upon arrival at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, although the cause of their symptoms remained unknown.
