SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has indicated a possible lawsuit against Representative Ro Khanna, D-Calif., following the latter’s recent statements. Khanna, on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, requested the Democratic Party to hold Musk accountable if they regained control of Congress.
Khanna expressed his viewpoint by saying, “Once we take power, there should be accountability for Elon Musk.” He criticized the celebration of Musk creating numerous millionaires while alleging that Musk’s cuts to USAID potentially endangered 4.5 million children globally. Khanna referred to these cuts as actions of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In response, Musk took to social media, labeling Khanna’s assertions as lies. He stated, “Time to sue this liar,” and shared his perspective on the situation. Musk explained that DOGE’s requirement was to ensure aid funds were legitimately used. He highlighted previous USAID officials’ charges for embezzling money and stressed that DOGE’s methods aimed to prevent such corruption.
Musk criticized Khanna, accusing him of dishonest stock trading practices and corrupt actions. He repeatedly called Khanna a “robber,” and challenged his integrity. A representative for Khanna pointed out a video where the congressman countered Musk’s accusations.
Khanna commented on the situation, stating, “Elon Musk threatened to sue me and called for my imprisonment. His reaction followed my citation of a study linking DOGE cuts to potential child deaths overseas.” Khanna asserted his stance on free speech and challenged Musk to a debate instead of legal threats.
Khanna emphasized his history of standing up to influential individuals and highlighted his past actions, such as confronting AIPAC and advocating for wealth taxes. He reiterated his determination not to be intimidated by Musk’s threats.
