Extreme Heat Events: A Growing Concern

Just before a heat wave impacted the Eastern U.S. in early July, I reached out to a friend in Northern England. His region, as well as much of Europe, was experiencing a heat dome. The day preceding my message marked the hottest temperature recorded in the U.K. This record was surpassed the very day of my message and once more the following day.

These occurrences underscore the rising frequency and intensity of heat waves around the globe. They reflect a broader pattern of escalating climate abnormalities that many regions face today. As temperatures soar, the health risks and economic impacts become increasingly clear, urging both policy makers and the public to prioritize climate action.
