Far-Left Streamer Predicts Challenges for Socialist Left After Primary Defeat

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker warned of tougher times for the socialist left after Wisconsin state Rep. Francesca Hong lost the Democratic gubernatorial primary to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. During his livestream, Piker argued that Democratic establishment figures are poised to counter insurgent candidates, no longer underestimating the progressive movement.

Piker, who rallied alongside Hong and Rep. Ilhan Omar in August, portrayed the primary defeat as a cautionary message for socialists aiming to expand their influence following prior victories. He stated, “It will be more difficult because the establishment will not underestimate us. It will continue to undermine us, but they will not underestimate us. So, the knives will be out.”

Response from RNC Spokesperson

Natalie Baldassarre, RNC national spokesperson, responded strongly to Piker’s comments, urging Democrats to disavow him. She described Piker as a “radical” and criticized Democrats for aligning with him.

The Wisconsin primary showcased a rift between the party’s socialist left and its traditional coalition. Hong, backed by Reps. Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna, former Ohio state Sen. Nina Turner, and Wisconsin-based DSA chapters, faced Crowley who returned to the race with substantial establishment support, including an endorsement from retiring Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.

Crowley’s Victory

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley won after gathering establishment backing, such as endorsements from the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council, and local officials.

Hong sought to distance herself from Piker after appearing on his livestream for campaign fundraising. In a July interview, she clarified that sharing a platform does not imply endorsing every viewpoint the host has expressed.

Reactions and Predictions

Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt mocked Piker and DSA’s reaction to Hong’s defeat, sarcastically noting their distress.

Piker considered Crowley’s victory “far from the worst result” and predicted Crowley would defeat Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in the upcoming November election.

Delayed Election Results

The primary results announcement was postponed until Wednesday due to “human error” in Milwaukee’s vote count. Election officials reported a mix-up involving audit logs, as an election worker accidentally pressed the wrong button.
