A fatal shooting occurred Wednesday night at a high school graduation in Northern California, resulting in one death and injuries to three others.
The Fairfield Police Department reported the incident around 7:15 p.m. The shooting took place in the parking lot during the Sem Yeto High School graduation ceremony, which was hosted at Fairfield High School in a location southwest of Sacramento.
Authorities confirmed that one victim died at the scene. The other three victims were hospitalized, but the severity of their injuries remains unknown.
Suisun City Mayor Alma Hernandez noted in a Facebook post that efforts to locate the shooter were in progress. In a statement to CBS News Sacramento, the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District explained the shooting happened after the event concluded.
Responding law enforcement agencies are investigating the shooting that unfolded post-ceremony on the Fairfield High School campus.
The conditions and ages of the victims have not been disclosed. Currently, no description of the suspect is available.
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is supporting Fairfield police in the investigation. Sem Yeto High School shares its campus with Fairfield High School. Those with information about the incident are encouraged to contact Fairfield police.
