First Detransition Clinic to Open After $10 Million Settlement in Texas

Texas Children’s Hospital has agreed to a $10 million settlement after being found to perform illegal youth gender transition procedures. The settlement includes the opening of a new detransition clinic. This development came to light due to the testimony of whistleblower Vanessa Sivadge, which unveiled these procedures and led to significant state enforcement action.

Legal Action in the UK

A separate legal action has emerged in the UK, where a psychiatrist known as “Dr. A” is taking action against the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Dr. A claims the hospital ignored safeguarding concerns by admitting men identifying as women to female psychiatric wards.

NHS and Supreme Court Ruling

The dispute follows a U.K. Supreme Court decision in April 2025, clarifying that terms such as “woman,” “man,” and “sex” refer to biological sex. This decision allows for the exclusion of biological males identifying as women from women-only spaces, while maintaining protections against gender reassignment discrimination.

Despite this ruling, Dr. A alleges that her inquiries to ensure compliance with the law were met with resistance. She claimed that a biological male patient on a women’s ward exposed male genitalia to female patients, highlighting the ongoing issue.

NHS Compliance and Dr. A’s Legal Action

In light of these events, Dr. A filed an Employment Tribunal claim against the NHS Trust. She alleges unlawful workplace discrimination and harassment due to her gender-critical beliefs, and claims the Trust failed to adhere to the Supreme Court’s decision regarding biological sex.

Dr. A stated her concern for preserving women’s privacy and dignity, emphasizing that patients should receive compassionate treatment with their sex recognized for intimate care and safety.

The Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has responded by acknowledging the Supreme Court ruling on its website and plans to review current policies. This review aligns with ongoing national NHS guidance assessments initiated since the Supreme Court’s decision.

An official from the U.K’s Equality and Human Rights Commission emphasized that transgender women could be excluded from women-only services, aligning with the Court’s ruling.

Sonja Shaw, a candidate for California superintendent of public instruction, and advocate for girls’ sports, criticized policies risking women’s safety, underlining the importance of sex-based privacy and fairness.
