Former LSU Star Demetrius Byrd Arrested in Miami After Bus Incident

Former Louisiana State University (LSU) wide receiver Demetrius Byrd is currently in jail following an arrest in Miami. Byrd is accused of posing a serious threat to a bus passenger, reportedly brandishing a knife.

The incident, as reported by the New York Post, involved Byrd engaging in a heated confrontation with another bus passenger. During this exchange, Byrd is alleged to have asked, Who wants to die? This occurred in the presence of other passengers, one of whom attempted to defuse the situation.

The situation escalated when Byrd allegedly revealed a knife. He has since been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Online records indicate that he is being held on a $5,000 bond. Additionally, Byrd has an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.

Demetrius Byrd, during his time with LSU, is celebrated for a memorable game-winning catch against Auburn in 2007. His catch secured a victory for LSU, which eventually led to their national championship win that year.

Despite his promising college career, Byrd’s NFL aspirations were hindered by a severe car accident occurring a week before the draft. Initially in critical condition, his draft stock plummeted, and he was selected in the seventh round by the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately, Byrd never played in the NFL.

In his college career with the Tigers, Byrd played 27 games, accumulating 72 receptions for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns. His time at LSU marked the peak of his athletic achievements.
