The family of former NFL player Jordan Devey, a Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, confirmed his death by suicide. They announced the tragic news through a GoFundMe campaign, highlighting the difficult and heartbreaking time the family is experiencing.
Devey, known for his role in the Patriots’ victory in Super Bowl XLIX, was not only a celebrated athlete but also a valued member of the Eagle High School community in Idaho. He was a committed coach, dedicating time to his children’s teams and the high school athletes, who regarded him as a mentor and friend.
“He was a devoted husband to Linsey and a loving father to their four children,” the GoFundMe post noted. Devey’s commitment to helping others extended to his church, where he provided support and friendship.
His wife shared a heartfelt message on Instagram on what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary, expressing deep love and loss for Devey, along with cherished memories of their time together.
Jordan Devey launched his NFL career after playing for Memphis, beginning on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. He joined the Patriots in 2014, starting in six games and contributing to their Super Bowl win. He later played for the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, and Buffalo Bills, starting 21 of 44 games.
Devey has a unique NFL distinction of having blocked for legendary quarterbacks Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen.
