Four officers from the Green Bay Police Department sustained injuries when a suspect drove into a crowd early Saturday morning. The incident took place at approximately 2:15 a.m. at a food truck, where officers were responding to a disturbance.
As law enforcement attempted to detain individuals, a vehicle accelerated toward the group. An officer discharged their firearm in response. Following this, the suspect evaded capture, initiating a brief car chase. Police ended the pursuit using a PIT maneuver, successfully apprehending the driver.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. None of the officers’ injuries were life-threatening, and they have since received medical care. No additional injuries were reported from the gunfire.
In a later news conference, Police Chief Chris Davis indicated uncertainty about the driver’s connection to the food truck disturbance. Some officer injuries had occurred earlier while they were executing arrests.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office will assist with the investigation involving the police shooting.
