On National Bowling Day, ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ hosts Pete Hegseth, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Will Cain embraced the occasion by playing on custom in-studio lanes. They were joined by Tyler Harriman, President of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America, and Avery Ling, a 15-year-old competitive bowler, to explore the sport’s storied history. The live segment aimed to promote free bowling games across the nation.

In related news, Japanese bowling legend Ritsuko Nakayama passed away at 84. The Japan Professional Bowling Association announced her death, indicating she had been undergoing medical treatment. Nakayama was a pivotal figure in Japanese bowling, influencing its growth in the 1970s.

Ritsuko Nakayama, known for her contributions both on and off the lanes, originally played volleyball for a corporate team before transitioning to bowling after the team’s dissolution. In 1969, she became one of the first professional women bowlers by passing a qualification test, finishing second to Kayoko Suda among 13 pioneering women that year.

A landmark in Nakayama’s career was achieving the first perfect game in women’s professional bowling in 1970. Her influence extended beyond the sport, as seen in her 1971 appearance in a television commercial for a shampoo, which earned her the affectionate nickname “Sawayaka Ritsuko-san.”

The segment underscores the enduring appeal and cultural significance of bowling, as well as the legacy of remarkable individuals like Nakayama.
